Hello

I hope that this finds you well in the time of Covid-19.  These are certainly extraordinary times in all of our lives!

Online Consults

I am still practicing and “seeing” patients via telemedicine and phone consults for the duration of the crisis.

Telemedicine and phone consults can be booked online at your convenience through the link at the top of my website.  For telemedicine consultations I am using Doxy medicine ( https://doxy.me ) which meets all of the security requirements for telemedicine from around the world.  It is incredibly easy to use and there is nothing for you to download.

I can still recommend professional supplements through an online dispensary called Fullscript, and have a few options for continuity with herbal tincture prescriptions as well.

Health During A Pandemic And Social Isolation

While it is clear at this time that NDs are not allowed to treat Covid-19 (this makes total sense to me as we can’t test for it, and can’t assess potential health complications such as pneumonia through x-ray or even a basic physical exam right now!) naturopathic medicine is one of prevention and holistic health and I believe that NDs still have a pivotal role to play during this outbreak.  Fortunately BC’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry agrees as she has listed naturopathic doctors as an essential service at this time!

I estimate that the bulk of my patient population fit into two main categories:  digestive health and/or mental health concerns.

It’s estimated that 70-80% of our immune cells reside in our digestive tract, so if we are working together towards digestive wellness then I encourage you to continue treatment in order to indirectly support your immune function in this critical time.

If your primary health concerns relate to anxiety and/or depression and/or insomnia and/or burnout (particularly with self-isolation and social distancing) then again, I would love to continue to support you during this pandemic to mitigate potential down-regulation of your immune system in response to stress hormones.  I’m working first hand on supporting my own nervous system during these un-precedented times!  T

Of course, Covid-19 is the primary global concern with immune health right now but influenzas and other viruses are still in circulation as well.  As mentioned above, I am not allowed to treat Covid-19 but I can support you with other immune concerns (sinusitis, bronchitis, fungal or bacterial overgrowths, urinary tract infections, etc.) with the goal of helping your immune system to be in top form should you encounter the novel coronavirus.

There is also an abundance of data available pointing to the risks of Covid-19 on those with pre-existing conditions.  The infographic below is from informationisbeautiful.net (sourced April 2, 2020).  If you, or a loved one, has one or more of the risk factors that makes the novel coronavirus potentially more dangerous then now seems to be the perfect time to engage in naturopathic support to improve heart and lung health!

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns and I look forward to seeing you virtually through telemedicine until this pandemic passes – as it inevitably will – and we can meet again in person!

Stay well.  Stay safe.  Stay calm.  Stay home.

Much love in the meanwhile,

Miranda/Dr. Wiley
