I now work Saturdays at Sina Pharmacy and Health Centre!

There have been numerous reports from around the world of the economic effects of Covid-19 being hardest on women (as well as youth and low-income earners), so I’m both proud and delighted to be able to offer in-person and telehealth consultations to my patients while concurrently supporting another woman in business.

As women, and as a global community facing an historic pandemic, we need to support each other. I am particularly excited about this next chapter.

Back in February…

I marvelled that for the first, and only time in my life, it was the start of both a new decade and a new Chinese astrological 60-year cycle (12 zodiac animals cycling through 5 elements each).

New Year’s Eve is always pretty meh for me but Chinese New Year brings excitement. I love, love, LOVE being able to use the animal and element combinations to really focus my mind and intentions for the year ahead.

Back in 2012, it was the year of the water dragon. Instead of attending the parade downtown, my husband and I were dealing with a flooded deck and living room.  It felt a lot like a water dragon had exploded in our home!

So this year, 2020, was so exciting with so much potential to start fresh and try new things.  Who knew that those new things would be wearing face masks in public and seeing my patients online.

Sage shut down in April earlier this year- just before my birthday.  It got me thinking about how I had been hired nine years earlier on my birthday.

There were a lot of sleepless nights with all the turmoil of no clinic, home-schooling my kindergartener and caring for my toddler by myself because my husband, a front-line worker, was working extra hours.

In the meantime, a global pandemic gained momentum.

At 3am one morning, I sneakily crept to a screen and looked up ‘numerology cycles’.  I know nothing about numerology but according to the internet I had started at Sage in a year one of a nine year cycle and it had ended as the year nine wrapped up.

Here I was in May again at the beginning of a new year one.

A new chapter.  A whole new world.  Unrecognizable from the last world in so many ways.

Shortly after this realization, I was at Sina Pharmacy.  I had sent a lot of patients there for prescriptions while I was at Sage and I have a lovely relationship with the owner and pharmacist, Fatemeh.  We chatted for a while and I left with an offer to practice out of their space!

One door closes and another one opens…just like that.
