We are *literally* what we eat! Every cell in our bodies is made up of molecules that we acquired through food. Diet changes can strike fear into many peoples’ hearts and prevent them from seeking out holistic care, but it doesn’t have to be restrictive, uncomfortable, or scary!

When exploring food intake we’ll look at what is being eaten, as well as when and why. There are no wrong answers, just curiosity to understand where you are at and how it relates (or doesn’t relate) to what changes you are hoping to see in your health.

Sometimes dietary advice comes in the form of foods to include so that we can add nutrients into the general intake. Sometimes, if the patient is willing, it may be helpful to avoid a food for a while just as an experiment to see how the body reacts. *IF* the avoidance of that food makes someone feel better then it’s usually not very hard for them to choose to avoid it moving forward. If it doesn’t make a difference, then the food is reintroduced and no harm, no foul.

There are SO MANY different diets promoted online and through books. Which one to choose?

  • low FODMAP
  • anti-inflammatory
  • anti-yeast
  • paleo
  • keto
  • vegan/plant-based
  • flexitarian
  • intermittent fasting (so NOT eating at times)
  • and the list goes on…and on…and on…

The best diet for YOU might not be what is best for your family, friends, or co-workers. The best diet for you might be a long-term shift in your approach to food, or a short exploration into a new way of eating in order to achieve a specific goal in a specific amount of time.
